The attempt for Social acceptance

Now everyone knows that awkward feeling when its your first day at a new school or college.
You skim through the crowds of black and blue just to find someone you know or someone like you.
Your first instinct is to go with appearance. The person you call your "friend" on the first day is not necessarily your friend till the last day.

Now when its your first day at work and its not a campus opportunity, you're just outcast.
You have painful stretches of silence, awkward lunches/tea breaks, you're confused at almost every conversation.

Most of you, would try bridging the gap. In most cases you will succeed. In my case, I have a very awkward fake laugh, I find the need to comment on everything when in fact I have no clue what I'm talking about and honestly I'm short of being call a dumb blonde.

I turn into this type of girl I would usually make fun of. Well what goes around comes around.

Its my attempt for social acceptance that pushes me to the other side. If I knew someone at work, I presume I wouldn't act this way at all.

Then again, what is Social acceptance. A nod or character certificate by someone who knows less than an iota of you as a person? And why is it so important.

Social acceptance is the fact that most people, in order to fit in with the others, look and act like them. It stops (mostly) everyone from truly being themselves. It's is also the reason most people look painfully average.

So do I lack soul and mind due to my need for social acceptance and am I a conformist?

I guess I'm the only person to answer that question.

So I'm just going to accept that somedays I'm the pigeon and somedays I'm the statue.
